Legislative Priorities for 2011

News from Charleston:

On March 12 the budget bill passed 81-18 through the House of Delegates and will be sent to the Senate for consideration.

Delegate Virginia Mahan, (Democrat, Summers County of the 27th District - Raleigh and Summers Counties), said she supports the state budget and the House Finance Committee substitute in particular. She said there are several things supported in the budget that she supports wholeheartedly and specifically mentioned Mountain State Centers for Independent Living.

Mahan says "I will feel good about justifying my vote when I get home."

Mountain State Centers for Independent Living (MTSTCIL), especially MTSTCIL in Beckley, thanks Delegate Mahan for her continued support of our work in the disability community.

West Virginia Centers for Independent Living

The West Virginia Centers for Independent Living (WVCIL) is a joint collaboration of all centers for independent living (see a list of all centers) in West Virginia.

The WV Centers for Independent Living are urging the WV Legislature to continue to support basic independent living services that are critical to the lives of the over 400,000 individuals with disabilities in West Virginia. We are requesting the WV Legislature restore the WV Division of Rehabilitation Services' Independent Living Services budget in the amount of $500,000. Learn more ..
