Advocacy Resources
- WV Statewide Independent Living Council was established in 1982 whose mission is "To ensure persons who have disabilities have access to community-based resources that promote personal choice and facilitate the achievement of their independent living goals".
- WV Developmental Disabilities Council was founded to assure that West Virginia citizens with developmental disabilities receive the services, supports, and other forms of assistance they need to exercise self-determination and achieve independence, productivity, integration and inclusion in the community.
- Fair Shake Network is an association of West Virginians dedicated to a "fair shake" for people with disabilities and to the belief that diversity makes our communities stronger. People with disabilities have the right to live, work, and play in their own homes and communities.

- National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) is a membership organization, NCIL advances independent living and the rights of people with disabilities through consumer-driven advocacy.
- Independent Living Research Utilization(ILRU) program is a national center for information, training, research, and technical assistance in independent living located in Houston, Texas.
- WV Advocates (WVA) protects and advocates for the human and legal rights of people with disabilities.
- Disability Resources is a nonprofit organization established to promote and improve awareness, availability, and accessibility of information that can help West Virginian's with disabilities live, learn, love, work, and play independently.
- US Department of Justice ADA is a federal agency that provides information and technical assistance on the Americans with Disabilities Act.
