2010 Disability Caucus

The seventh West Virginia Disability Caucus was held July 26-28, 2010 in Charleston, WV. The Caucus was two days of disability related trainings and workshops including a celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The Caucus ended on the third day with an awards ceremony. There were over 150 people in attendance representing the advocacy and independent living community as well as public policy advisors for the state of West Virginia.

At the 2010 Disability Caucus, individuals, organizations and businesses in West Virginia who have supported the independent living philosophy of consumer control, empowerment, access, and the value of the cross disability approach were recognized.

Awards were presented in the categories of Accessibility Award; Media Award; Public Official of the Year; Outstanding Personal Assistant of the Year; and, the Independent Living Hall of Fame.
