


A Public Safety Symposium will be held on Saturday, February 12 at the Tri-State Fire School, 4200 Ohio River Road in Huntington from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
The Symposium is geared toward the needs of people with disabilities and the aging.
The Symposium is being sponsored by the Mayor's Committee for Persons with Disabilities and the Tri-State Fire School Association. There are many agencies participating including:
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided thanks to the WV Rehabilitation Center.
The is a first of a kind event and our own Dee DeLancey spear headed the event and will be the MC.

The event is open to anyone interested in the needs of people with disabilities and the aging as it relates to security.
Representatives from the FBI will talk to us about computer crimes and how people with disabilities and seniors are targets for Internet crime.
The Sheriff's department will discuss crime including information about scams, and the proliferation of scams against seniors and people with disabilities especially during spring months.
Homeland security will talk to us about a new database being created for people who would need special assistance during an emergency including a weather emergency, loss of power or other types of emergencies.
