West Virginia Centers for Independent Living Centers, Satellites, and Service Areas

Each center for independent living (CIL) is a non-profit corporation operating under a board of directors, that has a majority people with disabilities, with base funding granted from the Rehabilitation Services Administration, U.S. Department of Education. Each CIL provides the four core independent living (IL) services: Independent Living Skills Training; Peer Counseling/Support; Individual and Systems Advocacy; and Information & Referral. Each CIL also provides other services that meet the needs of their communities, as determined by their board of directors. The CILs currently have a contract with the WV Division of Rehabilitation Services to provide IL services previously provided by the Division, which include home modifications, wheelchair ramps and lifts, and adaptive equipment.
