Mountain State Centers for Independent Living joins the WV Alzheimer's Association in promoting awareness of Alzheimer's during November.
In October of 1982, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed one week in November as National Alzheimer's Disease Week. One year later he proclaimed November as National Alzheimer's Disease Month. At that time, he did not know that he would join 4.5 million Americans and more than 48,000 West Virginians, who are currently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
For more than 20 years, the Alzheimer's Association has been the gold standard for providing reliable information, supportive programs and services for families, increased resources for dementia research and influenced changes in public policy.
