Ms. N
Age 65
Randolph County
Project - Assistive Technology
Total Project Cost: $900
Ms. N requested a lift chair and strobe smoke detector in Febuary of 2001. She lives alone and often could not stand up from a seated position without assistance. Because of this, Ms. N had to remain in her chair until the next time her personal assistant was scheduled to visit. Ms. N had severe hearing loss and was unable to hear a regular smoke detector. The NWVCIL was able to purchase a strobe smoke detector and a lift chair.
Without these items Ms. N would not have been able to live indepedently and would have had to be institutionalized.
