"The Virtual Center for Independent Living for West Virginia"Home > Election 2006
November 7, 2006 is election day. On election day, we will be electing a United States senator and West Virginia senators and delegates. This election will affect you, your life, your future and the lives of many people in the world.
There are 1,130,008 voters in West Virginia. During the primary election in May of 2006 only 26.22 percent of these registered voters cast their votes. If you don't vote, it doesn't count. Make your voice heard - vote!!
For people with disabilities, much is riding on this election: access to Medicare and Medicaid; employment opportunities for people with disabilities; ADA enforcement; accessible, affordable housing; and, funding for independent living centers, attendant care services and access to transportation. Remember, there are over 400,000 people with disabilities in West Virginia and we want every politician to know that West Virginians with disabilities vote. As the late Justin Dart said "Vote as if your life depended on it, because it does!"
