The Web sites listed below are some of the many resources available for learning more about fire, life safety and related statistics and programs.
This is an excellent Web site with home safety information for all age groups including fire and burn prevention, fall prevention, poisoning prevention, stairway and bathroom safety, and much more. Downloadable easy-to-read large text and illustrated fact sheets, posters, checklists, slide shows and lesson plans. Brochures and other materials are available, some free, some for purchase. Research studies on home safety. Become a member of the "Expert Network" to receive up-to-date information on safety programs.
Under "Learning", go to "Public Education" for free, downloadable safety tips and fact sheets on fire safety, home escape planning, smoke alarms and more, including their "Center for High-Risk Outreach" populations. NFPA program "Remembering When" covers fall and fire prevention for older adults. Brochures, posters, fire safety programs, videos, and Fire Prevention Week materials can be purchased. Also has translated materials available in Spanish.

This is a leading Web site for information on injury prevention for children. Preventable injuries are the leading cause of death to children under the age of 14. Due to the large number of seniors who are raising or caring for grandchildren and younger family members, the safety tips and checklists that can be downloaded for free can provide valuable information about keeping young children and teenagers safe at home. This site includes product recalls, information on child safety seats, and much more.
This is a Web site that advocates for people of all ages who have disabilities. Information on community partnerships, fair housing and other equal rights issues, model disability programs, barrier-free environments, and more.
