Ability Builds Leadership And Education - Consumer Advisory Council (ABLE/CAC)

As required in the Mountain State Centers for Independent Living (MTSTCIL) Articles of Incorporation, there is a consumer advisory council (CAC) for the Huntington and Beckley centers.

About the advisory council:

The responsibilities of the CAC include providing the MTSTCIL Board of Directors with information regarding issues, concerns, ideas, and suggestions from the disability community.
The CAC members are advocates for the disability community as well as self-advocates.
ABLE/CAC officers are elected on an annually.

Members of ABLE/CAC established the following mission and vision statement:

The mission and vision of the Advocacy Builds Leadership and Education / Center Advisory Council is to:

provide information to the public on issues that pertain to all people with disabilities
support people with disabilities in participating in the legislative process

Committee members are individuals with disabilities who participate in programs at MTSTCIL and are concerned with the advancement of MTSTCIL and its programs, as well as improving the quality of life of individuals with disabilities in the community.

Meetings are held monthly at:

Membership is open to any individual with a disability who either currently participates in, or has participated in the past, in programs at MTSTCIL.
