Information and Referral

Through a network of resources, Mountain State Centers for Independent Living (MTSTCIL) offers individuals information on a wide range of disability-related topics. This information ranges from locating adaptive cooking equipment for persons who are blind, to providing the name of the nearest van rental business that has wheelchair-modified vans. Call or visit MTSTCIL for contact and referral information to other agencies and organizations that provide specific services or equipment.

As part of Mountain State Centers for Independent Living's Information and Referral services to the disabled community, we are providing an online database of community resources including resources in all fifty-five West Virginia counties. Name, address, telephone number and contact person is available for most listings. Check our Resource Database for information on the services and resources you need.

With the advance in computer technology, many people now have access to networks across the country. Some networks deal specifically with adaptive equipment, others with disability issues, medical concerns and health care. Information on these various networks is available from the centers.

The centers are also a valuable resource for information on complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act. They can provide you with information on a wide range of topics, such as the correct dimensions for a ramp or the correct height for accessible signage.

Resource libraries located at the centers are open to anyone interested in finding information on a specific disability-related topic. If a topic is not in our library, we can direct you to other publications that may have information on that topic.
