Do you find yourself unable to do some of the things you used to be able to do? Maybe a piece of assistive technology could help you become more independent and maintain that independence.
Assistive technology is any device used to perform tasks that would otherwise be difficult or impossible. These devices can be as complex as specially adapted computers or as simple as Velcro closures.
Services that help people learn how to choose, acquire and use assistive devices are part of assistive technology.
Mountain State Centers for Independent Living (MTSTCIL) can help you explore assistive technology options.
Mountain State Centers for Independent Living is dedicated to increasing awareness of and accessibility to assistive technology for West Virginians of all ages and types of disabilities.
MTSTCIL can lend consumers and members of the general public pieces of assistive technology for short periods of time until they can locate funding to purchase the device they require. MTSTCIL staff can also assist individuals in the application process and refer them to agencies that help purchase assistive technology.
