Barboursville Community Park is 460 acres of well-designed landscaped park including three fishing lakes, ball fields, tennis courts, walking and bike trails, play grounds, basketball courts and picnicking areas right outside of Huntington WV. Walk for Independence 2007 will meet at Shelter number 7
Barboursville Community Park from Charleston:
Take I64 West and take Exit 18; Barboursville exit (second Barboursville exit) - turn left off exit and go to US Route 60 east. Turn right onto US Route 60 east and travel about 1 mile; turn left at the red light onto Farmdale Road. (There is a Chevron/Seven Eleven at the light.) The road veers to the left and becomes Main Street. Go to the 2nd traffic light and turn right onto Central Avenue.
Central Ave. curves to the left, then goes under the rail road tracks. Turn left at the first stop sign onto Barbara Street. (There is a sign directing you to turn left towards the Barboursville Community Park. The sign is located on an electric pole on the diagonal corner from the stop sign). Travel one block to the next stop sign and turn right onto Martha Road.
Just as you start to go up the hill, the Barboursville City park road and sign will be on your right. Follow the road down a hill, past a horse arena, and the Barboursville School. Basically take the road all the way to the end. There will be a large parking lot directly beside the lake. We wll be located at Shelter number 7 on the left hand side of the lake.
