Independence Celebration 2016

Saturday, July 2, 2016.

This year's Independence Celebration in Huntington is going to be our best yet. You don't want to miss it!

We begin the day with the Walk / 5K Run around Ritter Park at 8 a.m. Next is the Independence Parade starting at 10 a.m. We have added an All American Cookout in Ritter Park for a fully fun family day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Our headliner for the All American Cookout at Ritter Park is Brandon Whitt - a good ole country boy singing those good ole country songs!

All are welcome to join us at Ritter Park at any time. Please register for the Independence Walk / 5K Run, and the Independence Parade using the buttons below. There are sponsorships available starting at $25 on up to a full corporate sponsorship.


Walk, Run, Roll or Ride in the Independence Celebration

All are welcome. The Walk / 5K Run starts at 8 a.m. The Independence Parade starts at 10 a.m. Participate as an individual and join us for the Independence Celebration.

We encourage you to register early. The cost of all registrations will be $35 as of June 1.

Create a Team and Fundraise for MTSTCIL

We encourage everyone who is participating in this year's Independence Celebration to Create a Team or Join a Team to fundraise for Mountain State Centers for Independent Living.

There will be fun competitions among teams and you may even be an award winner. No matter how much you raise, people with disabilities in West Virignia will benefit.

You can create and join a team for the Independence Walk around Ritter Park or to participate in the Independence Parade. If you are unable to participate, you are welcome to create and join a team through your school, church or other group on behalf of people with disabilities in West Virginia.

Independence Parade

The Independence Parade (map of parade route) acknowledges those who serve so that we all may enjoy the freedom of independence. We are pleased to announce that this year's Grand Marshall is Ron Wroblewski, WV Medal of Honor recipient and he will lead the Marine Color Guard who will be starting the parade. To register a vehicle, float, or group, select the button below:

Mission Statement

The mission of Mountain State Centers for Independent Living is to improve the lives of people with disabilities. The mission of the Foundation for Independent Living is to create resource development initiatives to provide financial support to Mountain State Centers for Independent Living.

The Foundation for Independent Living and Mountain State Centers for Independent Living have been determined to be 501(c)(3) charitable organizations for tax purposes as deemed by the IRS. These entities are considered to be individual non-profit organizations, all registered with the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office to solicit charitable contributions in West Virginia.
