Past Walks:
On behalf of the Mayor of Huntington, Charles Holley read a proclamation declaring July 25, 2009 as "Walk for Independence Day" and encouraged all city business to support the Walk.
WHEREAS: Mountain State Centers for Independent Living is joined by the Tri-State Literacy Council and Volunteer West Virginia in the Walk for Independence 2009.
WHEREAS: Members of our community have come together today to walk to bring awareness of the successes and the empowerment of people with disabilities through community service programs.
WHEREAS: Everyone here today shares a common goal – that of opening doors to greater individual independence.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, KIM WOLFE, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON, CABELL AND WAYNE COUNTIES, do hereby proclaim Saturday, the 25th of July, 2009 to be “6TH ANNUAL WALK FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY”.
IN THE City of Huntington and encourage all people, business, organization and institutions to join a celebrating the independence of all individuals.

It's official! The 2010 Walk for Independence will be held at Ritter Park on Saturday, July 17, 2010. Mark your calendars now and plan to walk with us next year. See you then!
The mission of Mountain State Centers for Independent Living is to improve the lives of people with disabilities. The mission of the Foundation for Independent Living is to create resource development initiatives to provide financial support to Mountain State Centers for Independent Living.
