Volunteer for a Committee

Past Walks for Independence:

In-Kind Committee

Volunteer Opportunities - Walk for Independence 2011

The in-kind committee calls local businesses and asks for smaller in-kind donations needed for a solid Walk-day experience: food, water, goody-bag items, a sound system, decorations, music, supplies (such as signs, banners, tape) etc. They can also recruit items to give as prizes to the top team, top fundraiser, and other specific awards that you give on Walk day. These incentives can really add to the Walk experience and garner a better experience for all in attendance.

Goal:

To find businesses to donate refreshments and supplies for Walk day to reduce or eliminate Walk day expenses. Also to find items for chance drawings, auctions, and goody bags, etc.

Time Commitment:

Expectations and Responsibilities:

The In-Kind Committee is responsible for getting stuff donated to the Walk, and must work closely with the Logistics, Media/PR, and community sponsorship committees, to make sure they are coordinated in their requests for items. This committee also works with the Festivities & Flare Committee on their efforts to dress-up Walk day, as many of these items can and should be donated as well. This committee has the primary responsibility for getting snacks and drinks, especially water, donated for the Walk so participants are well nourished/hydrated.
