Volunteer Opportunities - Walk for Independence 2011

The Recruitment Committee is ultimately responsible for the activities that invite individuals to join the Walk for Independence. They also oversee activities that help cultivate stronger relationships with participants, top team fundraisers in particular, that will help lead to higher fundraising amounts.

Goal:

To ensure a large turn-out for the Walk and significant dollars raised by retaining last year's participants and recruiting new walkers to the event. Seek to increase the overall funds raised by cultivating relationships with key walkers and helping them become stronger fundraisers.

Time Commitment:

Expectations and Responsibilities:

This committee oversees poster and brochure distribution, secures public speaking engagements (i.e. Lions or Elks Club, local churches, professional clubs, etc.), and sets up booths or info tables at area events (Huntington Mall, Disability Day, Fitness Expo, etc.)

Volunteer Job Details:

  1. Recruit 1 - 5 committee members
  2. Work to get the Walk for Independence web address linked to / from various web sites, to drive web traffic and ultimately registrations. Coordinate with Web site Editor.
  3. Personally engage with top team fundraisers via mail, phone and email to cultivate strong relationships and foster greater fundraising amounts.
  4. Oversee the tele-recruiting, or phone tree, effort to get past participants and others on MTSTCIL contact lists to sign up for the Walk.
  5. Keep the mission in the forefront of all activities, including day-of-event plans, to ensure all participants know why they are walking and where the money goes.
  6. Effectively track all activities and turn in all records to the walk coordinator.
